Circo de Los Niños – A remarkable part of what makes San Pancho so special!

Recognizing our local non-profit community centers and projects in San Pancho, Mexico

It’s so important to recognize all the wonderful community centers and opportunities this small pueblo has to offer and I would like to do a quick highlight on a very special project known as Circo de Los Ninos, the local Circus Arts School.

Every year the staff comes together and hosts a one-day retreat for a brainstorming and planning session paired with relaxation and good times. I wanted to personally thank the owners of Villa de Roja for generously donating their home for the Circo staff to have their all-important, annual meeting, which took place this past week!

A message from Glades, Circo del Los Ninos Coordinator: “As we get ready for the next 9 months at Circo de Los Niños, Villa de Roja was a perfect place to reunite with our teachers and volunteers. The lovely staff and ambiance made it very satisfying to spend the day fine tuning our children’s program and our commitment to the vision. The incredible sunset / pool time was the perfect way to say thanks to our team for their dedication to the children in the Circus family. Of course, our annual retreat wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of the owners and staff of Villa de Roja. Gracias!”

To provide some background, in 2011, the co-founder of Cirque Du Soleil, Gilles Ste-Croix and his wife Monique Voyer, decided to share their experience with the children of San Pancho and created a show with our very special local community center, Entreamigos, in San Francisco, Nayarit, with the intention to fundraise for it’s programs.

As a result of their idea, Gilles and Monique graciously expanded their support for Circo de los Niños as a Social Project providing continued training to the children originally involved. This later developed into what is now the Circus Arts school, called Circo de los Niños de San Pancho, and a fabulous must see fundraising show with the children of San Pancho is hosted annually.

Currently, more than 140 children are enrolled in Circo de los Niños programs. I am proud and feel very fortunate to say my three-year-old daughter has been taking classes since she was one and a half years old in their Circo de Bebe classes.

Thanks to this program, San Pancho is now richer with culture and opportunity for our children and families.
